The NFL makes a new appearance in Europe, and are bringing the two most popular teams with them. This is shown in a survey by Betting.se, which has examined search data from Google.
The NFL’s international games are getting closer, with three upcoming games in London during October and two games in Germany in November. This is the 16th season the NFL is playing games in London, and the second time they are coming to Germany. Previous years have also featured games in Mexico.
Jacksonville Jaguars have played the most games by far in the UK, with a total of 9. Despite that are the Jags not the most popular team. In a survey by Betting.se, which has analyzed data from Google, the most googled NFL teams in the UK are Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills and Dallas Cowboys.
The inhabitants in the UK make approximately 1 to 1,2 million google searches per month on the NFL teams during the season (September-January), and about 30 to 50 percent of that volume in the offseason.
–Dolphins played in the first London game back in 2007, and are tied with the Raiders for second most games played in total with 5. That early presence certainly created a fanbase, and they also currently have a very exciting team that will contend for the Super Bowl, says Leopold Neurath, betting expert at the Swedish site Betting.se.
The result is very different compared to Germany, where the reigning Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs, with superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes, is the most googled team, and the Chiefs also play in one of the upcoming games in November. Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the most searched teams after the Chiefs.
